Use of Sounds / Kits from SoundsForBeats.com

General Questions

  • What is SoundsForBeats.com?  SoundsForBeats.com is a website that I designed for beat makers, producers, or hobbyists that produce hip hop beats or compose instrumentals either for self use or for the use of music production needs.  SoundsForBeats.com carries over 500 instrument sounds, as well as a variety of drum kits, beat loops kits, and other sound kits.
  • Why should I purchase sounds from SoundsForBeats.com versus other sounds websites out there?  SoundsForBeats.com provides you with a variety of over 500 instrument sounds that you can buy separately in an "A La Carte" fashion versus the typical sounds websites where you have to buy a sound kit which may contain a large variety of sounds or loops that you won't find yourself using.  By allowing you to listen to each instrument on the website (with the exception of drum kits and beat loops sounds), you can decide which instrument sounds work best for you and buy only those that you decide.  You can then come back for more at a later time, without having to spend roughly $40.00 for a sound kit typically sold at other sites, to which you may only find 50% of it useful.
  • What are the different options of sounds or sound kits available on your site?  At this time, for the instrument sounds available, you have the ability to choose either Soundfont format or WAV Samples.  SoundsForBeats.com is looking into the possibility of also offering Kontakt NKI format and other formats, though at this time, research has shown that the mainly used sample formats seem to be WAV Samples and Soundfont format.  Drum kits and Beat Loops kits are sold in WAV Samples only.
  • Will your sounds work in my music production software and/or hardware?  The sounds sold at SoundsForBeats.com typically work well with the main music production softwares out there, such as FL Studio (Fruity Loops), Reason, Cubase, Logic, as well as others like Reaper.  Typically, if you are able to use WAV Samples in your music production software, you should be able to at least use the WAV Samples option of sounds available at this site.  As far as Soundfont format, if you are able to obtain a VST plugin that allows the loading of Soundfonts, then you should be able to use them.  HOWEVER, please note that you should visit the Free Sounds section and download a free sound or two to try first before you buy.  If you can use the Free Sounds in your software, you should be able to use the purchased ones as well.  Regarding hardware, if WAV Samples can be used, then you should be able to load them in your hardware as well such as Akai MPC Samplers.
  • What is a Soundfont?  A soundfont file is a special file (known as an SF2 file) that loads through the use of various VST Plugins that allow soundfonts to be loaded.  Soundfonts are simply a collection of WAV Samples that are assigned and mapped out to various keys across a MIDI keyboard layout and then saved as a Soundfont file.  In this manner, soundfonts can be more useful than WAV Samples in that you simply need to load a Soundfont file to replicate playing an instrument across the keys of your MIDI keyboard or sampler's keyboard.  This makes it easier to create melodies in your music production software without the need of loading up various WAV Samples to use different notes to create melodies for.  Everything is already mapped out for you in a Soundfont file.
  • What is a "Premade Sound Kit"?  A "Premade Sound Kit" is a sound kit sold at SoundsForBeats.com that already contains a variety of pre-chosen instruments available on the site to create a special kit.  This is typically available for you if you would rather buy a kit of sounds to work with rather than go through the variety of 500+ instruments to choose from.  These kits are typically sold at a lesser price than if you were to buy the instruments separately.  However, you cannot however, swap out instruments in the Premade Sound Kit with others that are on the site.  You would choose the "Custom Sound Kit" option instead (listed in below's question).
  • What is a "Custom Sound Kit"?  A "Custom Sound Kit" is a sound kit that is sold as a discounted savings to you.  Each Custom Sound Kit is available as a certain "number", such as "Custom 10 Kit", which means you need to choose 10 instruments of any of the 500+ instruments available on the site to make your Custom Sound Kit.  These are sold as a savings in comparison to if you were to buy 10 sounds separately instead of purchasing the Custom 10 Kit for example.  Towards the end of checkout, you can simply list the names of the 10 instruments you want for the kit.
  • Are the drum samples kits sold on your site loops?  The drum samples sold within the drum kits at SoundsForBeats.com are single shot drum samples at 16bit 44.1khz format.  Loops are only created for the demos on the mp3 players on the site, but the sounds are all single shot sounds that were created from scratch and mixed and mastered to deliver a high quality sound to use to make hip hop beats or other types of music production or instrumentals.  Each drum kit contains 100 single shot drum samples.  In the near future, there may also be "Drum Kit Minis" that will contain a smaller amount of samples for a lesser price than the full drum kit samples.
  • What is a "Mini Beat Loops Kit"?  A "Mini Beat Loops" kit is a kit sold at SoundsForBeats.com that was originally created by me as an 8 bar mini beat, and then deconstructed into separate channels for each instrument to be made as a separate loop file you can chop and sample and time stretch to your production needs.  The drum sounds used in the beat are also included in the Mini Beat Loops kit.

Payment Questions

  • I'm considering buying some sounds or kits from your site.  What method of payment do you accept?  You are more than welcome to purchase from SoundsForBeats.com.  You may pay with your Paypal account.  However, if you do not have a Paypal account, you can still utilize Paypal and pay with your credit card or check / debit card on Paypal.  There may also be an option via Paypal for an e-Check.  However, do keep in mind that with e-Checks, these must clear first within several days, as per guidelines of e-Check payment, prior to being able to receive your sounds.  Once a notification has stated that the e-Check has cleared, you will then receive your sounds sent to you via download link in email.
  • How do I know your site is safe to purchase?  As SoundsForBeats.com utiilizes Paypal to deal with payments, our site is secure for payment via Paypal's security measures and encryption methods.  SoundsForBeats.com has utilized Paypal for its duration and has sold to numerous customers safely.

Shipping / Download Questions

  • I just paid for sounds on your website.  Where do I obtain my sounds now that I've purchased them?  First off, a thank you for your purchase of sounds from SoundsForBeats.com.  Always appreciated.  You will receive the sounds you ordered via a Download Link by email between 24 hours thru 3 days.  Of course, all orders are manually completed and sent to you manually, and are done as soon as possible.  Please be patient during this process.  Thank you in advance.
  • What is the typical shipping method used when I buy from your site?  The typical method of shipping items to you is by email, as mentioned on the above question, within 24 hours - 3 days from the point of your purchase.  You may opt for a CD mailed to you for an additional charge that will be sent to you separately should you decide you want a CD instead.
  • How long does it take to receive my items once purchased?  Your order will be sent to you via email which will provide a download link.  Time generally takes within 24 hours to 3 days from point of purchase, unless you opt for a physical CD to be mailed to you.
  • Why do you not provide instant download at your site?  At this time, instant downloads after purchased are not provided due to the size of the files which will impact bandwidth of the site, causing it to either move very slowly, or to time out for the day if too much bandwidth is used.  Furthermore, since the sounds on the site are provided in a manner in which you choose the sounds you want rather than typical kits of sounds, that are already preset with the sounds they include, this requires further manual packaging of your sound kit to send to you via zipfile.
  • If I wanted to receive my order via a CD shipped to me, what is the process to that request?  If you wish to receive a mailed CD rather than to receive a download link via email, please advise me in the Comments box section at the end of your order.  Shipping for a CD costs $5.00 and at this time, a separate payment request for the CD will be sent to you.  Typically, it is advised that you only consider this option if you are purchasing 10 instrument sounds or a larger bulk order of sounds.

Return Questions

  • How do I get a refund on any sounds or sound kits from your site?  Due to the sounds and kits being digital files that you would save onto your computer, SoundsForBeats.com does not issue a refund on purchases.  All purchases are final.  Therefore, it is recommended, that if you are unsure of whether or not you can use sounds from this site on your music production software and/or hardware, that you go to the Free Sounds section and download some of the sounds from that page to test them on your setup first.  SoundsForBeats.com is not responsible for sounds that may or may not work properly based on your setup.  Please test the Free Sounds first prior to purchasing.
  • What happens if I chose the wrong format from your site?  If you realize that you chose the wrong format before your email is sent to you, please send an email as soon as possible to me at genycis@yahoo.com with your order and the sound format for the particular instrument(s) that you chose in error.  Remember, aside from Drum Kits and Mini Beat Loops kits that are only available in WAV Samples format, you may choose either Soundfont format or WAV format for the 500+ instruments available at SoundsForBeats.com.
  • Can I get a refund if I lose all the sounds on my PC?  All sales are final and no refunds are given.  It is highly recommended that you save your sounds onto an external drive or CD for safekeeping in the event of a PC crash that you may experience.  There are no refunds for lost sounds as this is the responsibility of the owner.  However, for a $15.00 fee, I can research the sounds that you may have purchased and zip them to resend to you in the event that you lose them.  If you lose your sounds and are considering this option, please email me at genycis@yahoo.com with your purchase receipts or dates that you purchased, along with the email you purchased, and I can then research to find the sounds you lost based on the receipts on my end.  If you lost one instrument sound, I can resend them to you (again, please provide proof of purchase from your receipts) at no charge.  However, anything more than one instrument will require further research and will incur the $15.00 fee if you choose this option to have your sounds sent to you again.
